Event format: Virtual
Agenda: view this year’s agenda
The UK Internet Governance Forum (UK IGF) is the national IGF for the United Kingdom. IGFs are an initiative led by the United Nations for the discussion of public policy issues relating to the Internet. A key distinguishing feature of IGFs is that they are based on the multi-stakeholder model – all sectors of society meet as equals to exchange ideas and discuss best practices.
The purpose of IGFs is to facilitate a common understanding of how to maximise the opportunities of the internet whilst mitigating the risks and challenges that the internet presents.
We intend to hold the UK IGF towards the end of the year in advance of the Global IGF. We are currently exploring dates and as always, remote participation and live streaming will be available.
On behalf of the UK IGF Committee, we pledge to organise our annual UK conference, the Internet Governance Forum, with a commitment to champion underrepresented voices.
In order to do so, we have signed the Future of London’s Speaker Diversity Pledge and will work with them to ensure our speakers and panels are representative of the society we live in. We firmly believe that this will enable us to have a more robust and challenging conversation about how internet governance impacts all of our lives.
We also pledge to ensure regional diversity and are working with the event organisers, as-well as wider academic and industry groups to try and ensure participation from speakers across all of the UK.
We are always looking for volunteers to assist with the programme organisation. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact us at [email protected]
